Date with Daddy

Last week, we dealt with yet another (thankfully very mild!) illness that kept Fiona out of preschool for several days.  Luckily that meant she got to spend one of those days having a wonderful date with Daddy in Chapel Hill.

Nothing starts a Daddy-Daughter date like breakfast at Ye Olde Waffle Shoppe and the opportunity to use a big girl cup!
Touring the UNC-Chapel Hill campus and drinking from the Old Well.

Smelling flowers and enjoying the early spring weather at the Arboretum.
Using the Morehead Planetarium sundial as a slide.

Not a bad day for a "sick" child

This Morning at the Bungalow

This morning Fiona woke up at 6:30 am - but did not want to get out of her crib when I went in to get her.  When I smiled and said, "You're being a silly, little monkey,"  she responded, "I know!"

I treasure these ordinary moments.

19 Months: She's Got Personality

Fiona is now 19 months old and her personality is in full bloom.  She's an independent, curious, on-the-go gal who likes to ham it up!  This month's most signficant development is Fi's transition to the older toddler/ 2-year old classroom at her preschool.  She's so, so ready to be around older kids, but we're in shock that our baby really is growing up!

This month she's enjoyed:

Practicing smiling on command...at the wine shop.  Who wouldn't be happy there?

...and at Elmo's - our favorite family restaurant for which she now asks by name!

Hiking in Asheville with Robyn's best friend of 21 years and her 5-month old son

Reading very important literature with Grandma F

Learning to (sort-of) ride her tricycle with Grandma S (aka Gra-Mougie)

A few wonderfully sunny days of unseasonably warm weather.  Bring it on, Spring!

One thing she didn't enjoy?
Being sick for a whole week!  GI virus, turned respiratory virus, turned pneumonia.  Yuck!
